Julie, the Jennys and crew are on their way to Springfield, Mass. as I write this. We are looking forward to another fun and successful event. Equine Affair is always one of our favorite events. Congratulations to Jesse Turk, the winner of the 2011 Lope for Hope saddle donated by The Wire Horse and Dakota Saddle Company!

The drawing was held this past weekend and Jesse walked...or rode...away with this terrific saddle. The event was a huge success with lots of money raised for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We at The Wire Horse were so glad to be a part of this wonderful program. Thank you CMHA, Katie Hartsuff and Gary Bulemore for letting us be a part of the effort.

Trade Show Season Winding Down

Wow! The Spring season has flown by and we are all anxious for nice riding weather. The trade shows are mostly behind us and we would like to thank all the nice folks who have visited our booths. It is always nice to see our old friends and meet new ones. Traveling around the Midwest gives us that chance to see folks from outside our Michigan area.

We just got home from the World Horse Expo in Reading, PA. Long trip but what a great show! We saw lots of old friends and made some new ones. It felt good to see so many folks out and getting geared up for the spring and summer riding season. Thanks to all of you that stopped by the booth. We are now looking forward to the MSU Stallion Expo, the Hoosier Horse Fair, Equine Affaire in Columbus, Ohio and the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison, Wisconsin.

Wow, what a great weekend we had for our after Thanksgiving sale. The weather cooperated and we saw so many of our long time friends along with some folks who came in to check out our store for the first time. Wow, what a great time we had a Quarter Horse Congress! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to check out our booth. WIRE HORSE 10th Anniversary Sale!

Wow! It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we opened The Wire Horse in our Lennon, Michigan location. The Wire Horse began as a small home-based business with Julie sewing show clothing, hoods and tail tubes and went by the name of "JP Horse Products". Jenny became a dealer for the newly founded Royal Wire Equine products and Julie added a few more people to help her with the sewing as the demand grew for her quality made products. Before long, the business outgrew Julie's basement, and it was time to find a building with more room for sewing and storage. When the property in Lennon became the new base of operations, Julie & Jenny decided to add some tack and other horse supplies into the mix.

And so here we are, 10 years in Lennon, with a staff of 10 full and part-time employees...and several more that pitch in during trade show season and sale time. We have added the original building to give us more space for the showroom, enlarged the sewing room and give much needed storage space. The Wire Horse carries a full line of clothing, equipment and supplies for riders of every discipline. We attend many large trade shows throughout the year, including our 2700 square foot booth at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio. Check out the article in September's Saddle Up magazine for the whole Wire Horse story.

We are gearing up for our 10th Anniversary Sale this coming weekend ( Sept. 10, 11 & 12) and are looking forward to seeing friends both old and new. With Easter right around the corner, it really does feel like spring! The weather here in Michigan is warming up, the snow is gone and things are greening up. Finally! We are looking forward to packing up the winter stuff and getting all those reminders of colder weather out of sight for the next few months! That makes more room for our beautiful 2010 show clothes and all our fun casual jeans and tops.

We want to remind everyone that we will be closing for a couple of days over both holiday weekends to give our employees some much deserved time off to spend with their families. We will be closed Christmas Day through December 27 and will reopen on Monday, December 28. Then we will be closed New Years Day through January 3, reopening on Monday January 4. Also, we will be returning to our regular business hours after Christmas.

EQUINE AFFAIRE IN W.SPRINGFIELD A HUGE SUCCESS!

Wow! After a very hectic October and early November, all of us Wire Horse girls are taking a breath before we gear up for the after Thanksgiving Sale and the Holiday season. But what a great time we had at Equine Affaire in West Springfield, Mass! It was so wonderful to see so many of our old friends and to meet so many new ones. Julie has been at Equine Affaire since it first started, so she a very familiar face to our East Coast friends.
We have 2 booths, the original one in the Better Living Center and another one now in the Young building. We were so thankful to have such a super crew to assist all our customers...Jenny S., Stacy and Gayle from the store here in Michigan. In addition, we were happy to have Caroline from 5-Star Equine, Deb and Chris (the "Dickie Dud girls") and "Big Nance" & "Sister Mary Catherine"...the Queens of Crack Cream! Donna from Outback was a huge help as well. These shows are an awful lot of work, but having such a wonderful, upbeat cast of characters makes it so enjoyable and we know our customers agree. Plus...lots of hands at tear down is a blessing to those of us in the "near geriatric" category!
But of course, the folks who come to our booths every year to shop & say hi are what it is all about. As always, we appreciate your patronage and are so glad to be able to provide you with a variety of quality products to browse through. We are already looking forward to next year's EA! This annual event is such a wonderful showcase for the breed and also gives visitors a chance to get some great shopping in. POA INTERNATIONAL!

We are all glad to have Jenny Jacobs back home after her trip to the POA International in St. Louis, Missouri last week. Jen reports that it was a great show; one of the largest Internationals ever. She had a great time seeing old friends and checking up on The Silver Kid's babies who did their daddy (and Jenny!) proud in the show ring! While we all miss Silver, it is great to know that his offspring are so successful. A bunch of chips off the old "Silver block"!
All of us at The Wire Horse want to congratulate the Hunt family on the purchase of their new beautiful Tex Tan Silver Leaf saddle! This is such a gorgeous saddle. We know you will look sharp in the show ring riding in it & wish you the best of luck the rest of the season and beyond!
On a more local note. both the Shiawassee County Fair and Genesse County 4-H Achievement days are almost here. We are seeing lots of 4-Hers coming in to pick up their fair supplies.
